Colosseum tickets: compare the access routes

A ticket defines where you may enter. A tour adds a service around that admission: a live guide, audio, assistance, transfers or a wider itinerary. Start with the access you want, then compare what each package actually adds.

Compare Colosseum ticket types

Standard Colosseum, Forum and Palatine

The main first and second levels and Colosseum museum, with a separate Forum-Palatine entry under the ticket conditions.

Keep in mind: Arena access is excluded.

Only Arena

A short arena-floor route, plus the listed Forum-Palatine and SUPER access under its conditions.

Keep in mind: It is not the ordinary main-level Colosseum visit.

Full Experience Arena

A wider Colosseum visit with arena floor entry, alongside Forum-Palatine and the listed SUPER sites.

Keep in mind: It does not establish underground or attic entry.

Full Experience Underground and Arena

The underground route and arena floor, with the other access listed in its ticket conditions.

Keep in mind: Attic access is separate.

Full Experience Attic

A route through the upper galleries to the attic, with the other areas named in its conditions.

Keep in mind: Read the dated stairs and lift arrangements; do not infer arena or underground entry.

Full Experience Passage of Commodus

A separate passage route sold with an educational visit.

Keep in mind: It is not interchangeable with the main underground-and-arena route.

For the attic route, read the conditions for your visit date. The official ticket page announces changed group and lift arrangements from 9 November 2026; older regulations still describe the earlier arrangement. Steep steps remain.

What does a Colosseum tour add to admission?

Compare like with like: the same access, date and party. A provider package may include guiding, reservations, headsets or transport. The official ticket face value is not the price of that whole package, and a product's lowest price may refer to another option.

Roman Forum entry and guiding are different

A ticket may let you enter the Forum and Palatine while the live guide accompanies only the Colosseum portion. Check the guided itinerary and where it ends. This distinction often explains why apparently similar packages have different durations.

Colosseum ticket validity and re-entry

The official Full Experience conditions describe one Colosseum entry and one Forum-Palatine entry within their validity window. Read the selected ticket's conditions instead of interpreting a two-day label as repeated entry.

Compare ticket prices for your date and party

A published product and a saved price are not confirmation of places for your visit. On the provider page, select the exact option, date, language and travellers, then review the final amount and cancellation terms together.

Before you book Colosseum tickets

  1. Match the booking option name to the route you want.
  2. Confirm that admission is included, not just audio or assistance.
  3. Check which sites have a live guide and which are independent.
  4. Read the meeting point and required early arrival.
  5. Enter the visitor names carefully and review cancellation terms before paying.
